Review: Chanel Blanc Essentiel Lightening NanoLotion

    CHANEL Blanc Essential Lightening Nanolotion
I bought it at Strawberrynet here

Why I bought it: To replace my SKII Essence which I didn't feel was producing any noticeable results after using 3 large bottles consecutively, and I wanted a watery lotion to continue that part of my skin routine. I don't actually have any freckles (thank god for now) but I still wanted a lotion that had multiple benefits that didn't double-up with my basic Kiehls alcohol free toner.

How it prevents and regulates dark spots:
    • Contains powerful lightening properties - a Liquorice extract and Vitamin C.
    • Limits the stimulation of melanocytes which gives rise to a localised increase in melanin production
    • Regulates melanin synthesis by limiting the activity of enzymes that produce dark spots. Puts them in "sleep mode"
Other Benefits: (This is the part that sold me, haha)
    • This nanolotion is perfectly tailored to the specific nature of Asian skin
    • An ideal pH of 5.5 to normalise the natural pH of Asian skin immediately
    • A rich concentration of active ingredients, identical to that of a skincare cream
    • Textures that penetrate rapidly for more complete assmilation of the active ingredients
    • Enriched with Yomogi Water, known for its anti oxidant and soothing properties. It works together with a liquorice root extract to lighten and calm the skin.
    • Young Orange extract acts as a Vitamin C booster for even more luminous skin.
    • Enriched with sotening agents, it leaves skin soft and supple.
    • Refreshed and soothed, your skin is more receptive to the benefits of other products
    What my skin says:
    • Softening: Sure is! It is a wonderful lotion to apply prior to moisturiser. Smells soft and fresh too.
    • Luminous: I think this product is effective in giving luminous skin within the limitations of being a water lotion. If you're looking for maximum results, suggest you try a mask or serum.
    • pH 5.5 : Did my skin feel "normalised"? I don't really know what that's supposed to feel like, so I can't comment.
    • Whitening: I don't have any freckles or spots (yet) so I can't comment on this. But I'm afraid to stop using whitening products now after reading the booklet - see below.

Now this is the part that got me freaking out about dark spots

The booklet that came with the product featured a survey on % Japanese women with dark spots within each age group. I've still got a few more years before I exit the 18 - 34 age group, but my jaw dropped at the 57% statistic. And my jaw dropped further again when I saw the 98.8% statistic for 50 - 64 year olds..

NOOO!!! *shock horror* A sample size of 300 is not enough. And I thought Japanese were really into skincare & sun protection?? Did they survey women from the countryside or what?

I'm afraid of dark spots more than I'm afraid of wrinkles.. I applied this nanolotion twice a day after reading this. My beauty aim is to not be one of these statistics.

i dont know many ppl with age spots to be honest..where this they survey these women XD

as a matter of fact, ppl i know in japan with age spots.. even on their hands will just go to the derma and get it removed.

I love your review, very detailed I might try this after I finish my Cle de Peau range, if you are interested their whittening is pretty good too.

Just wondering if that lotion or that range has anti aging effect in there?

    HI Akisa,

I'm afraid that I agree with Chanel's survey numbers. Any freckles that you have now will grow darker, even if you use sunscreen and whitening products religiously. This is sun damage that you picked up as a child, that will not become evidnet until your 40s or 50s.

However, you CAN go have laser treatments (IPL) like I did, to get rid of the most noticible brown spots (for example, I've got ZERO freckles on my forehead and hardly any on cheeks and nose.) IPL targets ONLY the dark pigment on your face, which turns dark and flakes off after the treatment.

If you have a really bad case of dark spots, you will need more aggressive laser treatment--an ablative treatment that actually removes the top layer of your skin. This usually takes two weeks or so to heal.

Keep using those whitening products and at least and SPF 50+ sunscreen everyday on your face, neck and hands.

    Good luck!

Well, I think the stats are true - for men AND women!! My parents have dark spots anyway - not excessive, but definitely more than when they were younger!!!

BE WARE AKISA!!! LOL... j/k! This is why I am in fear of the sun - I'll get my vitamin D in PILL-form thank you very much!!
